RE: [Harp-L] Mould on amplifiers
Billy,
there are chemical solutions against mould. Most of the products I know for
bathrooms and showers also have a bleaching effect since they are on a
chlorine base (see also http://www.peakpureair.com/chlorine-bleach-mold.htm
- no affiliations).
I heard that vinegar sometimes helps. Other websites recommend 80% ethanol
(which might be a good idea in your case since you use it on tolex).
Hydrogen peroxide 5% might not be such a good idea for it is a strong
bleaching agent. Try first on a hidden spot. If you find a non-bleaching
fungizide then go for it (if nobody sleeps in this room).
A good idea might be a dehumidifier for your studio and music room and
control air humidity with a hygrometer.
Best, Tom

Subject: [Harp-L] Mould on amplifiers
I was wondering has anyone got any sensible ideas or old wives potions to
stop mould from growing on the tolex of stationary amps in my music room and
studio.. I live in a sub tropical region, but it vis not necessarily a very
damp climate, however I notice several of my smaller amps, without covers,
get a grey dusty mould growing on them over time during more humid months.
